Rabbi Lenny Sarko and Devarim Institute has created the world's first Hebrew Braille Sefer Torah.

If you have a blind or visually impaired member of your congregation, they will now be able to read Torah for a congregational service. We have created a program that will allow them, or you, to borrow a scroll for their reading and then return it. In this way you do not need to purchase a scroll.

For those that need we have also created a program that will teach Hebrew braille for free. This will now give the opportunity for students to have a Bar/Bat Mitzvah and for adults to have an aliya for a congregational torah reading.

I have also completed placing the Reform prayerbook into a file for a refreshable braille display. This will allow a blind or visually impaired person to have a full usable prayerbook at the synagogue. This file is also offered for free.

For for information about this please go to www.devarim.org

If your congregation does not have a blind or visually impaired member, but your congegation has an interest in this unique Torah, we also can provide a lecture, which can be done in person or remotely live with a video conference program. I can let them experience the five year pathway it took to address all the issues in making such a scroll within acceptable guidelines for a sefer Torah. They can see a Hebrew braille scroll for themselves and other items of interest in this project. I could also answer questions your congregants might have.

If you wish to see a few pictures of the scrolls you can go to www.devaim.org. If there is interest in any of the programs we offer, please either email me at rabbi@rabbisarko.org or call at 724-9630789.

Training without the Ceremony
Training with the Ceremony

Having a Bar or Bat Mitzvah requires two steps. The training for what will take place on that day and the day itself.

Rabbi Lenny can provide the training with or without helping you organize being called to the torah.

There are times when you are not close to a synagogue to provide training for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. There are times when the students schedule will not allow them to coordinate the training with a local facility. There are times when people are simply not affiliated with a synagogue but wish to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah experience.

Rabbi Lenny can fill that need.

There are also times when people are eleven or twelve years old and do not have the chance to have a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Many adults today would still like to have the experience.

Rabbi Lenny can make it happen for you.

Please click on this link and it will provide many more details for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah experience:

For a Young Adult: Bar/Bat Mitzvah

For an Adult: Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah

If you have questions you can email the rabbi at rabbi@rabbisarko.org or give him a call at 352-610-2580.
